Over the bridge to Brigantine
Brigantine is its own island, reached from Atlantic City over the Brigantine bridge, a short drive from our shop on the Boardwalk. Its homes are a mix of lagoon-front houses, raised beach homes and oceanfront condo buildings, and each one shapes what a kitchen renovation can do.
Three kinds of Brigantine kitchens
Lagoon houses often have compact kitchens. The work there is about layout: better storage, a peninsula or small island, and counter space where there was none.
Raised and rebuilt beach homes usually have open layouts on an upper living floor. Plumbing and electrical routes are set by how the house was built to flood-zone standards, so we design around them.
Oceanfront condos come with association rules on approvals, insurance and working hours, and with neighbors below. We use sound-barrier underlayment under new floors to keep noise down.

It can. Much of Brigantine sits in a FEMA flood zone. If a renovation’s cost reaches 50% of the home’s market value, FEMA’s substantial improvement rule can require bringing the whole house up to current flood standards. The city’s construction office and floodplain administrator make the call.
